TheGunBlog.ca — Glock GmbH said its first batch of model 19 pistols made for Canada was bought up by distributors and is heading to stores, in what a retailer described as one of the hottest new handguns in more than a decade.
The Austrian company said it plans to make more and is leaning toward a Canadian version of the new model 19X pistol next.
TheGunBlog.ca — It’s hard to imagine a more gratifying day of shooting than trying out the newest guns and gear under a blue sky with a mountain as your backstop. That’s what it was like at yesterday’s Military/Law Enforcement Range Day for SHOT Show, the world’s biggest trade expo for the firearm industry.

TheGunBlog.ca — Here are the latest photos and technical specifications of the Glock 19 Canadian version. The images, provided by the company, show the pistol’s extended barrel and laser-engraved maple leaf. The Canadian edition of the world’s most popular pistol is expected in stores this month.
Today I got to visit the Canadian facilities of Italy’s Beretta Holding SpA, whose brands include Benelli, Beretta, Sako, Stoeger and Tikka guns, and Burris and Steiner optics. My hosts showed me the offices and target range, but we spent most of the time in the showroom.

Sig Sauer Inc.’s MPX firearm chambered in 9 mm is now available to Canadian shooters after the RCMP classified it as a “Restricted” carbine for use with a five-round magazine, the same as an AR-15. A “non-restricted” model may come later.
A petition to the government of Canada to legalize firearm silencers got more than 3,000 signatures in its first 24 hours online, suggesting wide appeal for a device to protect hearing and reduce noise complaints around shooting ranges.
SHOT Show 2017 was one of the biggest trade shows in Las Vegas and I visited only a small number of booths. Here are a few personal highlights, in addition to these, these and this. Aimpoint: New ‘Micro S-1’ for Shotguns. Aimpoint said at a press conference that it developed a new red-dot sight for shotguns, the Micro S-1. It’s similar to the company’s Micro H-2 model, with a lower axis and 6 MOA dot. Continue reading →
