Liberal Voters Want Gun Owners Gone From Cities, Ekos Poll Shows — Almost all Liberal Party of Canada supporters want gun owners evicted from cities, according to a new poll by Ekos Research Associates, confirming the party as the most-hostile political force against millions of men and women.

About 86% of Liberals surveyed agreed with the statement: “I think that there should be a strict ban on guns in urban areas,” Frank Graves, the president and founder of Ottawa-based Ekos, said on Twitter last night with the results.

Bloc Québécois voters tied the Liberals at 86%, compared with 81% among NDP supporters and 51% for Conservative voters.

Leave, Surrender, or Jail

Defending and restoring the rights of millions of men, women and youth who hunt and shoot safely and responsibly is a critical issue in the October election.

Prohibiting gun ownership would force families to flee, surrender their firearms to police, or face jail.

More Canadian Than Hockey

Hunting and sport shooting are at the heart of Canadian culture and heritage.

A record high of almost 2.2 million men and women have a firearm licence authorized by the federal police, more than play golf or hockey.

Toronto and Montreal are home to roughly 100,000 each. Calgary and Ottawa have half that. Vancouver has more than 70,000.

Millions more family and friends also use firearms under the control of permit holders.

Liberals Plan Massive Confiscation

Everyone is banned from buying, selling or having any gun unless they have a permit. Being caught means going to prison.

The governing Liberals plan to target licensed owners with the biggest single firearm confiscations in Canadian history if they are re-elected. The prime minister said this week he will update his plan to attack gun users later in the campaign.

Poll Details

The Ekos poll ran Aug. 8 to 13.

It showed Liberal hostility against urban gun owners weakened from the 90% animosity Ekos found last November. Graves deleted his November tweets after wrote about them.

‘Very Tight Race’

Opinion polls show the Liberals and Conservatives are neck-and-neck for who will win in October.

“If I was a government looking for a dramatic way to grow support in a very tight race, I would have a hard time ignoring this,” Graves said in his tweet showing Liberals want bans. “Of available voters over 80% like this idea. Enough nuance.”

Graves: ‘I HATE Guns’

“As a matter of personal bias I HATE guns,” Graves said in a separate tweet last night. “Actually, that really doesn’t capture the intensity of my hatred of guns adequately. And my question asks about ALL GUNS. So apparently, I am not alone on this.”

Conservatives, Police Say ‘No’

The Conservative Party is the only major party to consistently oppose bans that criminalize honest Canadian hunters, farmers, ranchers, sport shooters and firearm collectors.

Police leaders and groups across Canada also oppose new bans, as do provincial premiers and hundreds of thousands of concerned citizens.
