TheGunBlog.ca — Alberta gun owners should vote for the United Conservative Party (UCP) in the election underway, based on the party’s actions to defend the rights of firearm users.
The last day to vote is Monday May 29.
- Vote today or tomorrow to avoid last-minute lineups or hiccups.
UCP Needs Your Vote
The UCP needs every vote it can get to again form government with a majority of seats in the Alberta Legislative Assembly.
- Opinion polls show the party is barely ahead of the anti-gun New Democratic Party, and risks losing its majority.
Gun Vote Determines Winner
Alberta’s firearm users — such as farmers, ranchers, hunters, sport shooters and collectors — have the power to easily determine the result … if and only if they show up to vote by Monday’s deadline.
- The province’s 342,000 federally licensed gun users (PAL holders) represent more than 12% of Alberta’s 2.8 million eligible voters.
Anti-Gun NDP
The Alberta NDP supports the federal Liberal Party’s mass firearm prohibitions and confiscations, and opposes UCP measures to protect the rights of gun users and businesses.
UCP Promotes Gun Rights
UCP politicians from Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and Justice Minister Tyler Shandro to former Premier Jason Kenney have led their peers across Canada as the most-vocal politicians supporting responsible firearm users.
They’ve also inspired gun users throughout the country that their own provincial governments might defend honest citizens from federal attacks.
Here are five of many other UCP actions to promote gun rights:
- Nov 2019 and Jun 2020: Adopts motions to assert the rights of gun users. See also this one.
- Aug 2021: Names Teri Bryant, one of Canada’s top firearm collectors and experts, as Alberta’s first provincially appointed Chief Firearms Officer.
- Dec 2022: Asks court prosecutors to avoid criminalizing rifle and shotgun owners targeted by the federal Liberals.
- Jan 2023: Alberta joins Federal Court fight to stop the Liberal mass confiscations ordered in May 2020.
- Mar 2023: Passes Alberta Firearms Act to defend firearm users and block the Liberal crackdowns.
