TheGunBlog.ca — Alberta Premier Jason Kenney yesterday reiterated his plan to hire the province’s own Chief Firearms Officer to fight the federal Liberal Party’s attacks against hunters, farmers, ranchers and sport shooters.

Kenney, one of Canada’s strongest defenders of gun owners’ rights, was outlining the priorities of Kaycee Madu as Alberta’s new Minister of Justice and Solicitor General.

‘Push Back’

“He’ll be appointing an Alberta Chief Firearms Officer to ensure that we do everything possible to push back against the overreach of recent federal firearms regulation that effectively seek to criminalize law-abiding firearms owners,” Kenney said in a media briefing shared on YouTube.

Forced Surrender

Canada’s governing Liberals ordered federally licensed firearm owners to surrender many of their rifles and shotguns on May 1, after drafting the assault in secret with the federal police.

Kenney has said previously he would remove the federal appointee as Chief Firearms Officer and name his own official to regulate Alberta gun owners.

Criminalize and Confiscate

Owners across the country face jail for buying, selling or using their newly prohibited hunting and sporting equipment, and unless they surrender the gear to police by 30 April 2022.

The joint government-police assault is one of the biggest and most severe crackdowns against honest citizens by any democracy in history.

It violates fundamental principles of ethics, justice, governance and the rule of law.

Restore Justice

The Federal Court said yesterday that lawyers for the Liberals have until Sept. 11 to deliver documents with the rationale for the forced seizures. Six challenges have been filed with the Federal Court and one in Alberta court.

Saskatchewan appointed a decades-long advocate for gun users as its Chief Firearms Officer a month ago, as resistance to the Liberal attacks spreads across the country.
