Draft report. We’re adding details and context.

TheGunBlog.ca — Canada’s Liberal Party-led administration reiterated its plan to expand its attacks against government-licensed firearm owners through mass criminalizations and confiscations, with an update possible in “coming days.”

New OIC

Dominic LeBlanc, the minister overseeing the crackdown on honest citizens, said the Liberals will use an arbitrary decree known as an “order in council” to expand the criminalizations and confiscations they ordered on 01 May 2020.

His predecessor said the same thing in May 2022.

Police Raids at Your Home?

LeBlanc also suggested for the first time that some police departments support the attacks and will go to individual homes to execute the forced confiscations on behalf of the Liberals.

The Coming Days

  • December 05 is the anniversary of the Liberals passing their Firearms Act into law in 1995 to criminalize firearm ownership and simplify arbitrary gun confiscations.
  • December 06 is the anniversary of the 1989 mass attack the Liberals use to justify their assaults against honest Canadians and the principles of fundamental justice.
  • They often use this time of year to advertise their ideas to suppress gun users, from hunters and athletes to farmers, ranchers, and collectors.

LeBlanc at SECU

LeBlanc made the following comments to the House of Commons Standing Committee on National Security and Public Safety (SECU) on December 03.

  • He was replying to a question from Kristina Michaud, an anti-gun ally from the Bloc Québécois.
  • His comments were translated from French by TheGunBlog.ca.
  • Note: This is a preliminary draft translation.

Why It Matters

  • The Liberals, helped by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, have worked since 2015 to ramp up their attacks against men and women with government-issued firearm licences.
  • Their crackdowns have destroyed trust in politicians and police, and hurt peace, stability, and safety.
  • They have announced many more planned policies as they work to eliminate gun ownership, kill the firearm industry, and weaken safety and security.

LeBlanc Comments

We committed to — in English it’s the “gap list” — it’s the list of rifles that now has now surpassed 1,500, I think, from the initial order in council of Mister Blair.

I don’t want to correct you, but I just want to make sure we understand: Phase 1 of the repurchase program is to go get these “Prohibited” military-type rifles that are with rifle stores — Cabela’s or any other store that has these rifles in inventory.

The process has already begun. At the RCMP, pilot projects and tests have been carried out.

The government has recovered some of the rifles already in the inventories of these retailers, and the rifles were destroyed.

I saw the photo of the first rifle destroyed following Phase 1.

You’re right, though: Phase 2 is the part where we go to individuals, to people, asking them … The police, the Sûreté du Québec, is going to support us a lot.

We’re going to go get those rifles, and we’re going to compensate. We’ll recognize that we made illegal something that was legal before, and we’ll compensate. We’ll pay the person.

And there you’re totally right. We can’t not have announced the next part of the ban. It’s an order in council that will finish the list of “Prohibited” rifles.

We can’t leave that open. When people get a cheque, they won’t be able to go back to Cabela’s and buy the modern version of the rifle we just made illegal. It’s a loophole we’re going to close. We’ll close it before people get the money.

I’ll have over the coming days, I think, something to say in terms of next steps.

We had talked about a committee of experts or technical advisors who will work with the RCMP. Again, this process is already in place. They’ve had meetings to date, some meetings, others last week, I believe.

I’m aware of the deadlines you mentioned and I’m confident we’ll meet them, and I’ll be happy to give you details over the coming days and keep you up to date, because you’ve been a good supporter of what we sought to do together, you and Mister MacGregor, and before him, Mister Julian, were important contacts.

On Track to Fail

  • The Liberals have no budget and no idea how to execute their confiscation fantasies.
  • They have yet to begin the forced seizures they had hoped to complete almost three years ago.
  • They have repeatedly missed all their project milestones and have extended their own deadline twice. The deadline is now after the next election, guaranteeing the confiscation fantasy will fail.
