Firearms Policy: Ban Criminals, Not Hunters
While the Liberals go after farmers and hunters, we’ll go after real criminals. Our plan protects the rights of lawful gun owners while cracking down on the violent offenders and illegal guns that cause almost all the gun crime in Canada. We will:
- Create Enhanced Weapons Prohibition Orders to subject repeat violent offenders, including domestic violence, to random searches with judicial oversight.
- Clear the licensing backlog so that hunters and sport shooters can enjoy their lawful pastimes sooner.
- Add plain language to the Firearms Act so that law-abiding Canadians and police can more easily understand and enforce the law.
- Protect licensed sport shooters and hunters because law-abiding Canadians are not the problem.

‘Cancel the Liberal Gun Grab’

The campaign document included a line labeled “Cancel the Liberal Gun Grab” and saving $547 million over the next two years.
- We believe this refers to the series of crackdowns ordered by the Liberals since May 2020 against federally licensed rifle and shotgun owners.
Context
- Today’s campaign pledges offer a glimmer of hope to Canada’s 2.4 million men and women with a federal firearm Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL).
- The Conservative Party is the only group in the House of Commons that isn’t working to eliminate us.
- Even so, the party led by Pierre Poilievre didn’t propose to dissolve the anti-gun legislative regime designed by the Liberals to criminalize responsible firearm users, confiscate our equipment, and eradicate gun culture.
- The Liberals, the most hostile political force against gun users, said in their campaign wishlist last week they will escalate their attacks against lawful firearm owners.
- The last day to vote is April 28.
