TheGunBlog.ca — Canada’s Liberal Party-led administration published the prices it’s offering to pay firearm businesses that surrender rifles and shotguns for confiscation, and gave them less than five months to comply or get nothing.

It’s unknown if individual owners will be offered similar terms.

Four Price Lists

The Liberals yesterday published four lists on their firearm-confiscation website with proposed compensation amounts for businesses:

  1. Rifles and Shotguns
  2. AR-10 and AR-15 Lower Receivers
  3. AR-10 and AR-15 Upper Receivers
  4. Parts and Components

The lists cover the roughly 2,000 makes and models the Liberals ordered for confiscation on 01 May 2020 in one of the biggest crackdowns against honest citizens by any democracy in history, outside of war.

The lists don’t include the additional 324 rifle models ordered for confiscation this week.

Summary and Examples

  • “Administrative payment” per surrendered firearm: $250
  • Example Amounts Per Surrendered Firearm
    • $165: Mossberg 702 Plinkster Tactical 22 (Lowest amount offered)
    • $880: Derya Arms MK-12
    • $980: Smith & Wesson M&P 15
    • $1,035: Ruger Mini-14
    • $2,000: Daniel Defense DD-15
    • $2,095: SIG Sauer MCX
    • $5,970: Barrett 99
    • $117,450: Purdey Double Barrel Rifle (Highest amount offered)
  • Lower Receiver – Assembled: $485
  • Lower Receiver – Stripped: $200
  • Upper Receivers for AR-10 and AR-15: $500 – $1,265
  • Parts and Components: $3.20 for a detent spring to $1,264 for a carbon-fiber barrel
  • Per “deactivated” firearm that isn’t surrendered: $400 – $700

On Track to Fail

  • The authoritarian crackdown is on track to fail.
  • While some gun distributors and stores need the money to stay in business, others have said they will refuse to participate in the Liberal attack to guarantee its collapse.
  • TheGunBlog.ca isn’t aware of any individual who intends to surrender their goods, and is aware of many who intend to keep them.

Submit Soon Or Get Nothing

To be eligible for compensation, businesses must create an account on the confiscation website and file a claim.

“All claims must be submitted through your account by April 30, 2025 to receive compensation,” the website says.

This sudden and surprise deadline appears to contradict the expiry on 30 October 2025 of the limited, partial, and temporary amnesty for the crime (since 01 May 2020) of being in illegal possession of “Prohibited” goods.

It may be a tactic to encourage early compliance, if any.

370 Businesses Own 9,074 Targeted Firearms

The Liberals estimated previously that of the roughly 2,400 government-licensed firearm businesses, about 370 of them own some 9,074 targeted firearms, most of which had the legal label of “Restricted” until May 2020.

For comparison, individuals own about 150,000 rifles and shotguns to be destroyed, according to the Liberals, and more than 500,000 according to the Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association.

It’s in the interest of the Liberals to give a low estimate as a tactic to boost the compliance rate, if any.

Compensation Calculations

The Liberals said:

Compensation amounts were determined following in-depth research, including:

  • Review of manufacturer prices, Canadian dealer and retailer prices, foreign retailer prices, pricing guidebooks and auction listings
  • Consultation with the Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association (CSAAA)

Missile Launchers, Rocket Launchers

The payoff list includes some items that made us envious, and made us chuckle:

  • 19 missile launchers
  • 48 rocket launchers
  • 28 recoilless rifles

The Liberals are offering to pay $1,670 per recoilless rifle and $2,385 for each missile launcher and rocket launcher.

We wish we could offer more.
