TheGunBlog.ca — Saskatchewan said it hasn’t issued any licences to confiscate guns from federally licensed firearm businesses, further suggesting the federal Liberal Party’s efforts to force such seizures across the country are on track to fail.
Freberg Letter to CSAAA
Robert Freberg, the commissioner of the Saskatchewan Firearms Office, sent a letter dated yesterday to the Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association (CSAAA), which shared the letter today by e-mail.
Freberg: No Confiscation Licences Issued
Freberg said:
Under the Saskatchewan Firearms Act (the Act), any individual or organization accepting affected firearms on behalf of the federal government would fall under the licensing, testing. and compensation requirements in Part 4 of the Act. To date, no applications for seizure agent licensing have been received and so there are currently no individuals or organizations, which would include couriers/shippers, authorized to receive affected firearms from Saskatchewan business owners on behalf of the federal government.
Why It Matters
- Freberg’s statement follows Senate testimony last week by Greg Kenney, the manager of the Liberal attacks, saying the forced confiscations the Liberals ordered in May 2020 will begin by mid-November.
- Saskatchewan and Alberta are the strongest provincial defenders of licensed firearm users and the most-vocal opponents of the crackdown, and both provinces passed laws to block the Liberals.
- The letter further suggests the Liberals lack the means to execute their authoritarian suppression of lawful citizens and businesses, putting it on track to fail.
More Context
- The Liberals have said they wish to seize 10,000 to 15,000 rifles and shotguns from businesses, followed by 125,000 to 200,000 from individuals, according to their search for confiscators. Industry estimates suggest more than 500,000 firearms are at stake.
- They have failed to meet their own timelines for every step in their attacks, and have extended their own deadline twice.
- It’s currently set for 30 October 2025, after the next election. Gun owners expect the Conservative Party to win by a landslide and to restore justice.
