TheGunBlog.ca — We asked so-called “artificial intelligence” software to automatically create a podcast today based on TheGunBlog.ca, as part of our continuing experiments with AI tools, technology and media.
It’s astounding. Have a listen.
Details
- Google’s NotebookLM generated the script and the voices, based on TheGunBlog.ca.
- Our instruction to the software was simply to enter the web address (URL) of TheGunBlog.ca, and click “Generate.” No other prompt, guidance, or context.
- The audio is 5:30 long. It was created in about 2 minutes.
- We then uploaded the audio file to YouTube and added the visuals.
- It was our first time ever seeing this software, and the whole experiment took about 5 minutes from start to finish.
Analysis
- Overall Impression: Astounding. Mind blowing.
- Accuracy: High, with some inaccuracies. We counted 2 or 3. That’s still much more accurate and insightful than most reports created by human “journalists.”
- Bias. It reflects the bias of TheGunBlog.ca, with milder language and tone.
Why It Matters
- It raises important questions about the role of humans in journalism, communications and media.
- The software is this good today, imagine what we will do with it tomorrow.
- AI software can be abused. Believe nothing. Question everything.
