TheGunBlog.ca — I visited a gun show for the first time today, and was surprised by how much I liked it.
Beyond the cool guns and gear, it was good to hang out with fellow gun people at the Orangeville Gun & Militaria Show in Orangeville, Ontario. Hundreds of us, all under one roof. That’s rare within 50 kilometres of Toronto, where if you admit to liking guns and shooting, people look at you like you’re a space alien.
Canada is home to almost 2 million men and women with gun licenses, plus an estimated 2 million or more gun owners without licenses. The gun community is at least 7.5 percent of the country’s adult population, and maybe 15 percent. That’s huge, and gun shows are an important way to show our numbers and celebrate our strength.
We’ll get to do it again next week at the Toronto Sportsmen’s Show.
